:Kinema:

Thrown together across an epic European road trip during the summer of 2007 Dom Ashton, Andy Nelson and Ross Flight discovered their shared love for music, laptops and famous actresses. :Kinema: have developed their sound over the last 18 months, combining elements of Yacht Rock, Soul and Contemporary Pop and Dance music into something sounding like Off The Wall-era Michael Jackson being re-imagined by a 21st Century Indie band.

:Kinema: has recorded a cover of Animal Collective’s “My Girls.” Check it out below and please feel free to post and review on your site:

Why Music Blogs Are The New Radio

Story is here via Hypebot.

Very interesting piece from The Beggars Group about how they try to get the word out prior to any release by making mp3s available to bloggers.

It really does work folks.

Relation Interview On Bad Fotography Blog

Check out Bad Fotography's Interview with Andy from Relation below. Among other things, he discusses the creation of their album Fear Of Night, New Order and the video for "Your Tiny Mind."

Eat More Cake - Red Sky (The Diogenes Club Remix)

Red Sky is the first single from Eat More Cake's debut album, "Climb The Ladder, Live The Dream" and features the haunting vocals of Alexis Griffith. The song is about contrast; delivering an esoteric message about perspective and ideology.

Red Sky is being released across two parts. Part One contains the avant-garde, with the original album version supported by remixes from the Diogenes Club, Lazybones and No Logo. Part Two is vectored towards the club, with remixes supplied by Borkmann, Avatars, Nikola Gala and the Diogenes Club, with their long player.

Eat More Cake in essence, are writers and musicians Andrew Briggs and Matt Pearn. On stage, they deliver musical direction into an edgy, accomplished and commanding 5-piece band comprising band members, Kay Juviler-Bacon (Vocals), Alex Lane (Drums), Owen Charles (Turntables, Ableton), with Andrew Briggs (Vocals, guitar) and Matt Pearn (Keyboards). Live highlights so far include Glade Festival, The Institute of Contemporary Arts (supporting One Eskimo), Camden Barfly, 93 Feet East and Hamswell Festival. They have also developed a strong grass-roots following in their hometown of Harrow, where they frequently headline at The Trinity.

Tracks by Eat More Cake have already appeared on Hed Kandi compilations, and on Radio 1. Commissioned remixes for artists include 'Green Is For Go', 'One Eskimo' and 'Relation'.

Their debut album (out 2010), was recorded and produced predominantly live, at Eastcote Studios in London by Richard Kayvan. It also features performances by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, conducted and arranged by Youki Yamamoto and recorded and engineered by Matt Howe.

Eat More Cake's writing style is defined by poignant, challenging and often caustic lyrical content, braced with lush orchestrations and irresistible head-nodding beats; surmised by Ibizan impresario Steve Miller (Afterlife) as "Utterly riveting, fresh, massive, huge and perfect for our times.." and by former head of Sony Music Urban Divison, Steve Ripley as "Stunning. I have heard nothing as good for years."
