Lancelot's First Song Off Forthcoming 'We Can Dance EP'

LANCELOT is the new project from 21 year‐old Sydney producer Lance Gurisik.

Formerly recording as AEONS, in 2011 Lance dropped the drums, kicked aside the USB keyboards and embedded himself in the studio to create his own dense style of house music.

With a fetish for analogue gear, Lance draws upon his broad knowledge of classical music styles and forms while recording and writing for dancefloors – the result sitting somewhere between new‐wave pop and down‐tempo, tropical house.

For the past 3 years Lance has been composing orchestral music, studying at the elite Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

After hours, Lance snuck into the faculty recording studios, laying down a swathe of well‐regarded, official remixes for artists including New Navy (Future Classic), Toucan, Fabian (Binary), Penguin Prison, Sparkadia (Ivy League), Faker (EMI), Tim and Jean (Universal) and Fallulah (Sony DE). This winter he recorded three original tunes for the upcoming We Can Dance EP.

Now, with a freshly framed graduation certificate and sharp new hair‐cut to boot, LANCELOT is plunging straight into the club.

LANCELOT’s 'We Can Dance EP' is set for digital‐release worldwide on LA‐based label Binary (Fabian,
Keenhouse, Nightwaves) on Beatport on February 20th, followed by a worldwide release on March 5th. The EP is comprised of seven songs including remixes by Goldroom, Fabian, Moonchild, and Frames.

Goldroom's Ode To His City - "Angeles"

After closing out 2011 by being featured on numerous year end lists, Goldroom is back with his first new song of the year - Angeles. Written about the city he calls home, Angeles captures the sun soaked vibe of LA with an almost disco-reggae sound. It is the sonic trip of flying over the city from a rooftop party downtown, to a porch in the Hills to a sunset on the beach.

Stream Angeles here:

In case you missed it, Goldroom's remix of Niki & The Dove's Mother Protect peaked at #4 on the Hype Machine Most Popular Chart, has been streamed over 100,000 times on Soundcloud and recieved support from the likes of The Magician, Alex Metric, Aeroplane, Mylo, Breakbot and more.

Keep an eye out for Goldroom's first single on Herve's label Cheap Thrills, a European tour in April and a San Francisco date at Blow Up with Clasixx on 2/10. All signs point to 2012 being another big year for Goldroom.

Eat More Cake - Smoke & Mirrors Video + Free Mp3

Last week Eat More Cake announced the release of their double EP, "Climb The Ladder, Live The Dream" - Now they are giving away a free mp3 of the single "Smoke & Mirrors"

Eat More Cake are London-based songwriter/producers Andy Briggs and Matt Pearn. They’ve remixed people like David E Sugar, One eskimO, Avatars, and The Milk, and done wonders with the Stardust classic ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ and Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’.

And now, on Sept 19, they are taking the unique step of releasing two 6-track EPs on the same day. Entitled ‘Climb The Ladder, Live The Dream EP1 + EP2’ it’s part classic down-tempo, part electronica, complete with massive melodies, cafĂ© del mar guitars and hip-hop beats.

Highlights? Well, there’s EP1’s soulful opener ‘You’ll Be There,’ the 90s laidback trip-hop of new single ‘Smoke & Mirrors,’ and the lushly string-led (courtesy of the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra) ‘Story of My Life.’ Meanwhile, EP2’s Massive Attack-like and ‘Music Box’ is a call to arms to a disengaged generation: “Told yourself you’d never do what they do – thought you’d change the world, but the world changed you.”

The band have already won fans at the likes Radio 1, 6Music, KISS and XFM and have appeared on Hed Kandi compilations ‘The Mix’ (UK) and ‘Serve Chilled’ (US). On stage, they’re known for some quite fab parties too – at Proud Camden, The ICA, 93 Feet East, and Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, to name a few. Look out for a host of live London supports toward the end of the year.

Goldroom

Born out of Los Angeles synthpop trio NightWaves, Goldroom is Josh Legg’s solo effort. An amalgamation of dreamy synths, emotive vocals, and tropical disco grooves, Goldroom paints the soundscape of summertime in Los Angeles. A breezy response to the heavy, dub-laden clubs around Southern California, Goldroom’s music is ready-made to soundtrack apoolside soiree. Influenced heavily by French Touch innovators like Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, Legg has crafted an uniquely Californian take on the genre, incorporating live instrumentation and percussion with elements of downtempo disco to create something more than the sum of its parts.

Goldroom’s first three songs arrive fittingly at the dawn of summer. Morgan’s Bay, City Girls, and Nights In Nantes tell the stories that come from living in a place like Los Angeles. Themes of lost love and innocence flirt with disco beats and funk bass lines, crafting something fit for a smokey dance floor or a morning drive to the coast. Legg plans to begin releasing more Goldroom material along with official remixes for Penguin Prison and Poolside. He's seeking out remix opportunities as well as DJ bookings.

“Morgan’s Bay” delivers the standout of the first three Goldroom originals. Crisp organic drums, funk laden guitar riffs, and almost whispered vocals create something of an intimate disco jam.

“Nights In Nantes”, a tribute to his dream of travelling to France to play music, finds Goldroom firmly in his wheelhouse. Smooth synth pads and digital arpeggios lay the foundation for a heavy funk bassline and vocals that promise that we’ll, “see the world through each other’s eyes.”

“City Girls” takes Goldroom towards the grimier underbelly of Los Angeles. Like something that Holy Ghost! might have penned had they lived in Venice, the song’s warning about the city girls “playing too rough” arrives over a bed of hypnotic disco drums and pulsating synth rhythms.

Kimouts New EP "Random Tales Pt. 1" Out Now On Urban Torque

Moscow’s Kimouts returns to Urban Torque with an extended EP of beautiful depth and warmth, showcasing different shades of electronica for a sonically elegant journey which is both emotive and evocative. Kimouts, previously releasing 'Down To Earth' on the ever excellent Buzzin' Fly, and his debut outing for UT 'Sometimes', is not someone who is knocking tracks out for fun. Instead preferring to take a slow and considered approach to insure he injects meaning and musicality to his productions, with an altogether more analogue approach.

Random Tales Pt. 1 encapsulates Kimouts focus on quality over quantity, shifting from the slow down cosmic disco of 'When I Was At A Dream-Making Factory', the etherial splendor of 'Drive', to the broken tripped out grooves of 'Endlessly Endless'. As a special bonus, included is Kimouts re-intrepretation of Erik Satie's 'Gymnopédie no.1'

David Borkmann Releases Debut EP "Mercury"

David Borkmann is a promising young producer from the West Coast of Sweden. David's sound is derived from many different influences. The rock and funk he played as a drummer in his former bands, the classical music he played on the piano as a child, and the deep house music that streamed from his DJing older brother's room. The 'Mercury EP' is his debut solo release, coming on the heels of his recent remixes of Eat More Cake, Avatars and The Berndt.

Praise For Faded Paper Figures' Sophomore Album "New Medium"

New Medium was released on May 25th and the blogosphere is already buzzing about Faded Paper Figures' latest release.

The band achieved an astounding TWO song appearances on the Hype Machine Most Popular Chart in the SAME WEEK ("Invent It All Again" and "North By North").

See what bloggers are saying:

“a bit pashy pit, a bit death cab and a lot of awesome.” – Together In Digital Dreams

"Invent," is sumptuous, crush worthy indie pop that's perfect for doing the indie shuffle to, holding hands, or making out. The sound track for summer just popped up on your Ipod...enjoy it.” – The Pop Stereo

“And if the tune is any indication of their ability to create some absolutely downright tooth ache inducing electronica coded sugary indie pop, well, sign me up.” – Pulp And Circumstance

“Glad music like this is still being made. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best policy.” – Off The Radar

“4/5 Stars. Faded Paper Figures are creative innovators and talented musicians. The depth of the instrumentals, the tricky pairing of electronica with serious subjects, and the winsome vocals and harmonies make ‘New Medium’ not just a big step in the right direction for the band, but for all the genre-hopping artists that are beginning to fill the industry.” – The Album Project

“The band’s new album New Medium is set for release next week, and if the rest sounds as good as “Invent It All Again” we’ll have something special on our hands. It’s bubbly indie-pop electronica and it makes me want to listen to more.” – Tympanogram

“Ladytron and Postal Service just made sweets-weet lovin', here's their baby..” – Everything Is Chemical
